5 Ways to Add Sweetness to Your Life

You are worthy of living a lavish and abundant life. Here is a quick and simple list of some ways to add joy and sweetness to your experience.

1. Celebrate yourself and your wins

Friend, don’t discount how amazing you are doing. I don’t care what everyone else is doing, it does not take away from your greatness. Consider taking time out to pat yourself on the back and celebrate your awareness, expansion, and journey. Those moments when you are aware of how your attitude has changed, or when you notice a situation you’ve healed through, take a moment to reflect and give yourself praise. When you show up for class or work, despite the challenges and unexpected things happening all around you, celebrate yourself. For those times when you call out from work or school, in order to rest, give praise to yourself. No matter where you’ve been or what you’ve done, you can celebrate yourself. Life is not about being perfect. Acknowledge your progress and rebirths. And I hope you know that your best, in every season of your life, is enough, and worthy of your praise.

Celebrate your grades. Celebrate showing up. Celebrate making it through the hour, day, week, or month. Celebrate eating foods that nourish your body. Celebrate keeping your word to yourself. Celebrate going for a walk in nature. Celebrate saying ‘no’ in order to rest. Celebrate those moments when you’re kind to yourself when in the past you would have judged yourself. Celebrate the compassion you give yourself.

Celebration is all about bringing awareness to the experience. Being present to those moments where life is reminding you that you are alive and in flow. And doing so from a space of self-care and remaining on the path of liberation. This isn’t to judge yourself but acknowledge the “highs” and “lows,” knowing that each moment of life has a purpose.

2. Journey in Grace

Wherever you find yourself on this journey, may it be with the energy of grace, love, and nurturing. Grace keeps you fluid and in Divine flow. Grace reminds you that you are a spiritual being, having a human experience, and in that— you’ll misstep; be gentle with yourself. Release being overly critical of yourself and others. Extend grace.

Grace reminds us to trust the journey. Trust that nothing is wasted and that what God takes us to, God will get us through. When you know that things are working out for your good and that there is a higher purpose in your life, what you’re experiencing —pain, challenges, and setbacks -- comes through a different perspective or lens.

Remember, each moment or experience will pass, it’s all impermanent.

When we journey in grace, we open up space in our hearts for new experiences, miracles, joys, and love to show up for us to witness. When we don’t journey in grace, we can become bitter, increase our stress levels, and feel depressed.

Should you find your peace, joy, and ease compromised… breathe Grace, and flourish on!

3. Live in flow with your energy (in other words, don’t overextend yourself)

Honor your energy. Honor what is and isn’t for you. Every invitation you receive, you don’t have to say ‘yes’ to it. You won’t miss an opportunity that’s meant for you; it’ll be back around if it's yours to engage with.

Tune into your body. Check in to see how an invitation feels for you. Whether it’s an external invitation or a prompting from within; is now the time to move forward? Is now a time to invest energy in this thing?

To live in flow with your energy is to live in alignment. To live in alignment is, to be honest with yourself with your words, actions, and choices. Be sure that when you say yes, or engage with something, it is not out of fear, or lack, but in alignment with your energy, at that time.

4. Learn a self-healing technique

Health is primarily an inside job. Self-healing refers to the things you do (consciously and unconsciously) to kickstart your internal recovery system to heal from wounds, illness, or any imbalance. Self-healing can help create more joy, a deeper spiritual connection, less stress or alleviate physical and emotional wounds. There are many self-healing techniques out there, which means there is likely a self-healing tool that will resonate with you. I’ve tried a fair share of them myself — some more helpful than others, and many transformative emotionally and physically. Here at Light to Lead, we believe we each are our own best healers. Therefore, you are the key to creating your magical experience, and this is one tool to help you unlock that.

Some self-healing technique tips are:

  • Tuning into your body’s messages (when it speaks in whispers

  • Emotional Freedom Technique (also known as ‘Tapping’)

  • Meditation

  • Breathwork

  • Automatic writing to connect with your intuition

  • Eat food that nourishes you

  • Practice self-compassion

  • Practice energy medicine

  • Prioritize self-love

  • Rest

  • Yoga

  • Body movement techniques

  • Breath into discomfort and pain

5. Create space for daily healing

As mentioned above, not only do we want to learn a technique, but we want to implement them. By intentionally choosing to practice healing techniques, or engaging in behavior that promotes healing, we are making a conscious effort to heal, doing a bit at a time daily. This is not about getting fixated on the idea of healing, but instead, we choose to do things that help us grow and expand our experience. If you’re into it, pull from the suggestions above and see which recovery practices align for you.  Know that the practices and processes you are attracted to may change with time. Meditation may be your go-to for a month, then the next month, you’ll be called to something else, it’s all good-- know (and allow) that things change. Each aspect of you may require different tools and techniques to free itself.

Friend,

I love you. I celebrate you, and I hope that you celebrate yourself. I am proud of you. This human experience is not always with ease, but you keep going and showing up, and what more should be asked of you? May you continue to witness moments of joy in your life. And may you bring awareness to just how amazing and purposeful you are. You are on this earth because you have something to offer and share with the collective. And you’re here to have a good time, don’t let anyone limit your experience.

I hope that these ideas spark something in you that expands life for you…

xx,
